Incense, Candles, Oils
Incense, candles, and oils are stock-in-trade for witches of all traditions, and no less so for the witches in the Amazon Tradition.
In rituals, Amazons use incense to call the mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers of the East when they cast a circle. Incense honors the Maiden Goddess, the element of Air, the breath of life, and the source of inspiration. Therefore, incense is usually created in the Spring season. Amazons use candles to call the mothers, grandmothers, and great-grand mothers of the South when they cast a circle. The flame of the candle honors the Mistress Goddess, the element of Fire, the heat of passion, and the source of creativity. Therefore, candles are usually created in the Summer season. And finally, Amazons use oils for consecration, anointing, healing rituals, and in spell work. Using oils in ritual honors the Mother Goddess, the element of water, and the power of healing. Amazon women often blend magical oils in Autumn in order to include freshly harvested herbs, as well as drawing on the natural watery power of the season. These oils can be used later for healing and anointing rituals, and crafting of incense and candles to enhance their fragrance and energies. |
