Coven Cords & Goddess Garb
Magical cords are braided at the conclusion of a woman's first Year and a Day Study in the Amazon Tradition of Ritual Arts & Magical Crafts as a sign that she has completed her initial studies, crafted her basic magical tools, and is ready for initiation into the Tradition. However, should she choose not to initiate for whatever reason, she is still entitled to wear her cords and weave into the coven as a full member.
Though cords and special attire are not required for most ritual occasions, most Amazons enjoy festive attire. Of course there is the iconical, perennial, and somewhat historical "Witch's Hat," as well as the mysterious cloak. Goddess garb can be as unique as the individual wearing it, but above all it should be comfortable and easy to move in. The garb should also be designed to ensure that the sleeves can be kept from flowing into the flames of ritual candles and fires. There are no rules for ritual garb. Some folks like to dress in leather garments while others like lace. It’s nice to have a variety of garments for various holidays and seasons, but basic black and basic red outfits are a nice place to start. In the Amazon Tradition, white ritual garb is also a necessity for the initiation ritual. Some Amazons like creating outfits in all of the elemental colors. Some ware mostly dresses and others ware mostly pants and shirts, but whatever you ware, the idea is to make it special so it helps set the mood and build the energy for the ritual occasion. |
